Happy 2013!

Well gang, we've had some requests to get this going again. So let's do it! It's a new year and let's start it off right! The theme for this next week is Burlesque. Any excuse to draw nice ladies bein all sexy, amiright?

I think we're going to change it up for 2013 though. From now on let's keep it a little more professional, with some finished sketches if you will. Whatever mediums of course, keep that creativity flowing, but more than just a pencil sketch, please! Also from now on just one submission per person, per week. That will keep it from clogging up.

If you have any questions or need an invitation to post your work, please post a comment here!

And now.... onto Burlesque!

  1. Should include a rule for Tag/Label system so we can search posts easily per theme. Also include the tags we should use at the end of every Theme posting so everyone have a reference. =D

  2. Since we do have the word Sketchbook in our name I feel like pencil is an amazing media so we should be allowed to use it. Haha. BUT, a very big BUT, it must be either a rendered finished piece or a portfolio level piece. Not some quick drawing you mindlessly dump out. Something that actually shows you put effort into it.There are line art and pencil sketches in portfolios. We should all be able to tell the difference between portfolio quality and a half-assed drawing.

I know that everyone has different skills level, some can doodle an amazing sketch in 5 min (Ehm, Gladys that mean I expect more from you ;D) while others take 5 times to do the same. As long as each submission shows effort to grow based on everyone's individual skill I think that should be fine.

We don't want to discourage people from posting because they don't feel like their work is good enough even though it shows growth. We're here to encourage, teach, learn and help each other grow. That does means posting work that shows we're serious about this.

REMEMBER!! We're also here to have FUN!!!

    1. Well said! I think that's what I tried to say, you're just better with words Aileenie! But definitely, more than just a simple pencil sketch.. We at least want everyone to put some effort into this. I hope I didn't come across too snarky or anything when trying to explain that! A bunch of us were talking and saying how we want to this society to have more of a professional quality, which is what I was trying to say. We don't want to discourage anyone from posting their work, we want everyone to be inspired to put in their best effort! :D :D
